The Fishermen's Eye Gallery is in Sitka Alaska, a small town with a huge history.
The gallery has been here for over 25 years and until 3 years ago owned by sisters Jill and Joanna. It is presently family owned by Vern and Ruth Culp. Ruth grew up in Sitka, is a photographer and her grandparents owned and operated the first Sitka photography shop from 1924 to 1972. Vern is a professionally trained graphic artists and has been in Sitka 30 years.
The gallery is dedicated to Alaskan Artists and primarily local artists. About 70% of the collection is Sitkan Artists, and the rest is Alaskan. There are a few artists that grew and developed their art in Alaska and for life's various reasons have had to move outside. An example is George Estrella who owned and operated his own gallery/studio in Ketchikan for 20 years but now lives in Seattle coming to Alaska yearly for exhibits.
Art lovers and colectors alike will find the Fishermen's Eye Gallery a refreshing treat for the
travler tired of made in china gift shops.
Welcome!
